Lower Back Pain
Active, strength-based rehab to get athletes moving and lifting without back pain.
Signs & Symptoms
Aching, stiffness, or sharp pain in the lower back
Pain with bending, lifting, or prolonged sitting
Tightness or guarding that limits training
Discomfort that eases with movement and worsens with rest
Reduced confidence loading the spine (squats, deadlifts)
Pain with numbness, tingling, or weakness running down the leg should be evaluated promptly.
How We Treat It
We identify your movement triggers, restore pain-free motion, and progressively rebuild strength and load tolerance through the spine and hips.
Hands-on treatment to reduce pain and restore mobility
Progressive core and posterior-chain strengthening
Movement coaching for lifting, hinging, and sport mechanics
Graded return to running, lifting, and sport demands
Recovery Timeline
Many athletes feel meaningful improvement within a few weeks, with continued strengthening to build long-term resilience. Timelines vary based on the cause and your goals.
Phase 1: reduce pain, restore confident pain-free movement
Phase 2: progressive core and posterior-chain strengthening
Phase 3: loaded movement and sport-specific patterns
Phase 4: full return to training and ongoing resilience work
Do I need an MRI for back pain?
Most back pain doesn't require imaging and improves with active rehab. Imaging is reserved for specific findings; we'll refer you if anything in your exam warrants it.
Should I rest or keep moving?
For most back pain, staying active within comfortable limits beats extended rest. We guide exactly how much and what kind of movement to do as you recover.
Do you take insurance?
Swift is out-of-network and cash-based — longer one-on-one sessions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, plus a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Lower Back Pain Rehabilitation at Swift
Lower back pain is one of the most common reasons athletes and active people stop training — but rest alone rarely fixes it. Swift takes an active, strength-based approach that restores confident movement, builds resilience, and gets you back to lifting, running, and competing.
Your program is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, built around your specific triggers and goals.
